Andricus brunneus

These galls are 3-5 mm. in diameter, in a cluster of 4 to 6 on the underside of the leaf. Tan, slightly mottled, slightly pubescent, thick-walled without any radiating fibers or free central cell, dropping in September.

Thin-shelled, subglobular galls on leaves of Quercus douglasii, about the size of a pea, pointed at opposite poles.

Fig 124. It is from these galls that adults have been reared that agree with the Fullaway types. His types were evidently associated with the wrong gall, namely one of Dros atrimentum (Kinsey) Fig. 98. From galls collected at Ukiah in October 1959 adults emerged Nov. 14, 1940. Fig. 102 of galls on Q-dumosa are thought to be this species • Brunneus occurs on Q-lobata and garryana also.

Andricus brunneus

This cynipid wasp induces round, monothalamous, hairy galls on the ventral midrib of leaves of most white oaks along the Pacific Coast. Galls usually occur in clusters, although single specimens can be found.
