Meunieriella avicenniae (Cook)(Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) the leaf gall maker of black mangrove in the American tropics.

Galls are about 5 mm in diameter, rounded and smooth on the top of the leaf and warty on the bottom of the leaf. Galls are first green, then turn brown after the larvae are fully fed. The larva pupates in the gall.
