Asphondylia garryae ...

induces round, fleshy, monothalamous galls on axillary buds and catkins of silk tassels Garrya buxifolia and G. fremontii. Galls are composed of greatly expanded, overlapping bud scales and bear a sparse arrangement of tiny hairs across the surface.

Asphondylia garryae forms bud galls on Garrya flavescens (Cornaceae) (R.J. Gagné, pers. comm.; see also Gagné 1989). The galls are green, globoid, one chambered, and have one larva per chamber. Coalescent galls occur frequently.
