This gall resembles those of Callirhytis quercusfutilis from the outside, a hairless circular wart protruding slightly from both sides of the lamina of leaves of Quercus alba. However, the gall remains succulent and contains larvae into the end of August after quercusfutilis adults emerge, and has thick walls with no apparent larval cell, containing no radiating fibers. Multiple larvae are present. Observed in Michigan and Massachusetts in August.
