Miller (2000) assigns these to Solidago speciosa, which at the time of his work included several species now (as per POWO, accessed today, 7/8/2022) segregated. Only the segregate species Solidago rigidiuscula is in range for the sites where Miller collected this species (Chippewa County, WI, Ramsey County, MN), but these sites are near the border of the range reported for another segregate from S. speciosa, S. jejunifolia. It is conceivable that these records include galls from this species instead, but this seems generally less likely. S. speciosa in the new, restricted sense does not range near the collection sites.
