Descriptions of new Cynipidous Galls and Gall-Wasps in the United States National Museum

Holcaspis persimilis, new species

A small, hard, globular gall, occurring on the twigs of the black oak and very similar in structure to other Holcaspid galls. It is, however, smaller, less than 7 mm. in diameter, and exteriorly it is very rough or rugose, with irregular raised lines and ridges.

Described from a single specimen, labeled simply: "Black-jack oak, issued November 10, 1868."
