Relation to host: Fingerlike galls are produced on the upper leaf surfaces. This is also true for specimens collected in Kansas from the same host species. The Kansas material had galls of various sizes and mites were very numerous. Even when galls were abundant the host plant was not seriously injured. Galls on young leaves had the same green color as the leaves but on older leaves, galls were frequently brownish or dark in color. The number of galls varied from two to 25 or 30 per leaf. The infestation seemed localized on the host with only a few leaves in any single area showing galls.

Eriophyes parulmi

Range. The only recorded localities for E parulmi are Beloit WI and Tampa and Winter Park FL. It is probably found wherever Ulmus spp grows in North America.

Hosts: The reported hosts are Ulmus americana, parvifolia, and Ulmus sp. With more careful collecting, it probably can be found on other species of Ulmus.

Relation to host: Finger-like galls are produced on the upper leaf surfaces. The same galls are found in South Dakota (Fig. 12 and 13). Galls on young leaves are of the same color as the leaves, but brownish or darker on older leaves. According to Hall the infestation in Kansas is localized on the host, with only a few leaves in any single area showing galls. This observation is also true in South Dakota. 

Eriophyes parulmi 

causes small, elongate, fingerlike galls that project from the upper surface of the leaf blade. They are randomly arranged, solitary, rarely coalesced and tend to crowd in the angles between the midrib and lateral veins. Specimens were found in July from Wisconsin westward.
